Referred to often as the “Unicorn” of any environment, Karen brings a passion, curiosity, and a wide range of experiences to every project and job. Karen’s ability to break down technology in an approachable way with a focus on education and empowerment, she’s not your average tech nerd. She’s the tech mom or office nerd that loves to help, share, and lower barriers and frustrations many face in the complicated and ever changing world of technology.

Karen’s love for tech started in the early 90’s. Actually having a WPM certificate, Karen took computers as a HS Freshman, practicing typing skills, using DOS, and building a large collection of 3.5 floppy disks. Senior year in HS included an early programming class- when C++ was still the foundation for programming. This led her to UC Irvine as a computer engineering student. Led by a passion for people and understanding culture and society, Karen ended up with a degree in Sociology from Sac State. While raising her three children, Karen ended up working at a local news station for the morning news program. The job offer was “you know like, everything and everyone, do you want to come work on the local news as a producer?”

From there it was a quick leap to the other side of the building, the sales department, for regular hours and to learn something new.
